so canada's olympic team blows my anus.
We, as Canadians, have been put into a competitive coma by the dismal medal count at the Athens Olympics.
All I can say, is that we are itching for a big can of whoop-ass. Which will come ...
pourquoi?
bring on the World Cup of Hockey mutha fuckas!
in case you didn't know what this is ... it's like this thing that is played every 4 years, (1996 being the first, it was scraped in 2000, but back in '04).
there are eight teams in this years world cup of hockey.
us of a: fucking americans. they got it all backwards. they are a mere day older then dirt. with over the hill players like chelios and hull, they are just too old to keep up. and they lack a true goaltender to boot. mike richter was a superb goaltender in the last world cup, but he has since retired due to massive concussions. so they are left with crap youngings who are unproven. kiss your ass good bye fellow southerners...
czech republic: the czechs are relying on patrik elias and burnt out jaromir jagr to win this. and cechmanek in goal gives the team about a zero percent chance of winning, which isnt very good.
finland: thanks to mikka kiprusoff (vezina torphy finalist), the finns are able to make up for a lack of players up front, still the team isn't looking too great with a true lack of forwards.
russia: the russians, like other teams, lack goaltending. khabibulin has taken a pass after leading the tampa bay lightening to a stanley cup this past season. and with nabokov out. the russians are shit out of luck this year.
sweden: the swedes ice an outstanding lineup consisting of players like mats sundin, daniel alfredsson, and markus naslund. yet they are relying on maple leafs prospect tellqvist and the tortured tommy salo, after an embarrasing lose to the belarussians in the 2002 winter olympics. one of the main contenders. have been runner up in the past two world championships.
we can all thank germany and slovakia for coming out ...
which leaves one team left: Canada.
canada has what it takes:
goaltending: (brodeur [currently the nhl's best], luongo [brought canada back-to-back world championships in 2003 and 2004], and theodore [who lacks the international experience])
experience: mario lemieux ... need i say more? ok i will. 10 of the players on the 2002 salt lake city gold medal team are back... including jarome iginla (lead all NHL goal scorers), joe sakic (MVP of 2002 olympics), adam foote, and scott nedeirmyer (how the hell do u spell that guys name?) ...
youngins: dany heatley ... helped canada win 2 back-to-back world championships. vinny lecavalier, brad richards, joe thornton, simon gagne the list goes on ...
we've got what it takes. we have scorers ... grinders ... playmakers. all what we need to prove to the rest of the world who are the best hockey players in canada.
I say bring it on WORLD!
