this is in reponse to joel's post: http://rollerz.blogspot.com/2005/10/jaw-dropper.html
first of all, i disagree with and cannot understand joel's infatuation with this article when there have been multiple shootings in the past few days. and all this damn gun violence. i cannot see how one can be worried about a few free speaking people in california.
let it be known, i am not a racist. i hate everyone equally. but there are no laws against branding cattle with a swastika, wearing a swastika belt buckle, painting your truck with a swastika sign, or singing songs about white people.
freedom is a wonderful thing that many people do not covet and completly understand. the freedom to call Paul Martin a fucking moron is something that not everyone can do. In a lot of countries if you speak out against the so called leader, you can kiss your ass goodbye.
if these people so choose to live the life they lead, let them be. so long as they don't have concentration camps setup.
i don't think this is any worse than snoop dogg or eminem. in fact, i would fathom to say that this is actually better. gansta's rap about rape, drugs, shooting other thugs, and other devious tasks ... the sad thing is ... they generally commit such crimes to boot.
if these white people want to sing songs, let them. just don't let them do what they said.
this is the least of my worries. this is what politicians love to see in the papers. because it's such an "outrage" that people like joel focus more on it than the 2000 dead soliders in iraq. or the poverty level. or the crime rates. or the sponsorship scandal. anything to divert public attention that makes them look bad is good for a politician. and joel has fallen right into their trap. he's so over-concerned with a bunch of blond haired blue eyed singers singing about whiteness that he's overlooked many bigger underlying problems that our society faces.
now, i do not, by any shape or form, endorse such songs. but as a free willing civilian, i cannot reprimend it anymore than i can to anyone else selling music or a writing a book. so be it.

isnt free speech restricted to where it does not progress to hate? im not sure how exactly it works in the us, but in canada, theres definitely a qualification to free speech in the constitution which allows courts to prosecute hate speech propaganda...which i definitely think that kind of music would fall into. Im not sure how to compare that kind of music to stuff from eminem....but its extremely disturbing that 2 little girls would be spreading that kind of a message. im definitely for liberal principles, but i think that the qualifications that are in our constitution are fully justified. so no...what those at least that sugg guy was singing, that counts as wronnggggg.
